SHAPE YOUR NEXT IMPACTFUL DOCUMENTARY

The Flagstaff International Film Festival presents our 2025 Documentary Lab—a program supporting U.S. filmmakers in bringing their non-fiction stories to the screen.

We're seeking one outstanding project from United States residents' three-page treatment submissions. This open call invites stories that address important social themes. These may include BIPOC experiences, LGBTQ+ issues, disability perspectives, environmentalism, activism, mental health, technology, innovation, equality, diversity, inclusion, and historical events, places, or figures.

Our Documentary Lab offers filmmakers a $1,000 grant to develop their project from concept to distribution. We provide grant funding, mentorship if needed, and exposure to ensure each selected project reaches its full potential, resulting in a completed documentary short film that will be screened at our 2026 Flagstaff International Film Festival.

Through this Lab, we aim to elevate and celebrate documentary filmmaking across the United States.

This Lab is for filmmakers 18 or older who have established documentary filmmaking experience and  film careers.
